| Esquadrão Aeroterrestre де Salvamento, известная своим прозвищем PARA-SAR, является бразильским ВВС бортовой поисково-спасательной эскадрильи, базирующейся в городе Рио-де-Жанейро .
The vast majority of PARA-SAR members are Corporals from the Mandatory Military Service, promoted from the ranks in Corporal Formation Course, Sergeants from Specialist School of Airforce and members from the Infantry Officer Course in Airforce Academy.
The minimum rank to join PARA-SAR is Corporal in the Airforce. Almost all Corporals in the Airforce are conscripts from the Mandatory Military Service and normally they are in the Infantry.
The Sergeants, normally are Specialists in Guard and Security, trained in the Specialist School of Airforce. This is the most combat-oriented course in Specialist School, because the Sergeant of Guard and Security is a member of the Infantry (TRUE infantry, remember that), and their responsabilities is to train the newcomers in Airforce and lead Combat Groups (the name of the Squad in Brazil).
Officers of the Infantry branch is much the same for Sergeants, but in "officer level". Only recently the Infantry of the Airforce gained the first Brigadier.

| The Airforce Infantry in Brazil is specialized in defense of military airports, using anti-aircraft weapons and some of Airforce troops are the best in seizure of airports (like the defunct GEPA [Grupamento Especial de Policiamento da Aeronáutica - Airforce Special Group of Police]) and firefighting in VERY hostile ambients... like fire-damaged airports full of oil...
Of course, they have training in ofensive manuvers. They have armored transport vehicles and even some tanks (Leopard). Airforce Infantry (Nicknamed 'Airforce Dustfoots') fight alongside Navy Marines and Army Infantry.
The Airforce Infantry is normally splitted in the BINFA (Batalhões de Infantaria da Aeronáutica - Airforce Infantry Batallion), CINFA (Companhia de Infantaria da Aeronáutica - Airforce Infantry Company) and PA (Polícia da Aeronáutica - Airforce Police).
PARA-SAR members MUST have these complete courses:
-Basic Parachute Course (given by Brazilian Army)
-Search And Rescue
-Diver Course
-Airborne Techniques
-Free Fall
-Free Fall Master
-Commando Course
PARA-SAR are elegible to (but not limited to) these missions:
-Counter Terrorism
-Commando Operations
-Rescue missions
-Airborne
-Combat-Search And Rescue
-Mountaineer
-Diving
-Heliborne Operations
-Survival (sea and jungle)
-First Aid (ALL members of PARA-SAR MUST HAVE training in medical procedures, like paramedics)
The symbol of PARA-SAR is a German Sheepherd Dog with a knife in mouth. PARA-SAR members are called "Sheepherders", because the dog have the qualities of a member: loyal, friendly, vigilant - and agressive when needed.
